Barre blends both yoga and Pilates while incorporating ballet to tone your physique and increase
flexibility. The main focus of barre is on isometric exercises, which are often done on a ballet barre. These
exercises include lunges, curtseys, arabesques, pliés, and ballet squats. Barre is an excellent method to
tone, strengthen, and improve flexibility from head to toe.

Not at all! Our classes are designed for all fitness levels, from complete beginners to experienced
athletes. Our instructors provide modifications for every exercise, ensuring everyone can participate
safely and effectively.
-
Wear comfortable workout clothes that allow you to move freely. We recommend grip socks or bare feet
for better stability. We provide all equipment including light weights, resistance bands, and yoga mats.
Just bring water and a positive attitude!

We recommend starting with 2-3 classes per week to see optimal results. Many members notice
improved posture and strength within the first few weeks, with more significant changes in muscle tone
and flexibility after 4-6 weeks of consistent practice.
-
Barre combines the precision of ballet, the strength of Pilates, and the flexibility of yoga. The small,
controlled movements target specific muscle groups to create long, lean muscles while improving posture,
balance, and core strength. It’s low-impact but highly effective!

Many people wonder about the difference between Pilates vs Barre. Both are fantastic workouts that
provide a slew of physical and mental benefits, but there are some differences between them.
Pilates and barre are both great exercises, but there are some key differences between them.
The most significant distinction between these two types of exercise is muscle use. Barre frequently
emphasizes working single body parts with little, repetitive movements. Pilates, on the other hand,
requires the entire body for each movement.
Another difference between Pilates and barre is the equipment used. A Pilates class uses a mat or
reformer machine, whereas barre classes make use of a ballet barre for balance.

No, unfortunately, The Barre Room doesn't have onsite parking. The parking behind the studios are private parks only. However, there is ample parking very close to our studios. Woolworths car park on Gladstone Street, and an all-day secure parking available next door to the Barre Room studios, on Gladstone Street, and Ascot Vale Road are both easily accessible.

The barre classes run for 45 minutes including a warmup and a cool down routine. The class schedules allow for a full 1 hour. This allows for the first 15 minutes to come in and slowly settle into your environment and ease into the session, meet like-minded people and perhaps even make new friends during your time with us.
We encourage this so that no one feels rushed or arrives late.
-
We are located in a secured building at 317-319 Ascot Vale Road, and you'll find us by entering the Gladstone Street side entrance.
If the door is locked when you arrive, please ring the doorbell to the right of the door, where it says ROOM 3, and you'll be greeted by someone from The Barre Room to let you in. Walk straight through and The Barre Room is the first door to your left.
-
No, we have all the necessary Barre equipment needed for a great workout.
